Cutting Slits Into Bread & Adding Cheese, She Makes Simple Party Favorite Everyone Will Love
by Tatiana Bosc 9/30/2017
Most people can agree that bread is one of life's simple pleasures. Add some cheese and you have a real winner. While bread and cheese is a combo as old as time, this delicious appetizer brings your two favorites together like never before. This dish is perfect for parties, and no one will know how easy it was to prepare!
To get started, cut your loaf of bread into a grid-like shape. Each square should measure roughly 1 inch by 1 inch, but be careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Once you have your bread grid ready, it's time for the fun part! Cut pieces of cheese into thick slices, then wedge them in between all of the slits in your bread. For this particular variation, she uses about 7 ounces of cheese total, half mozzarella and half white cheddar. Of course, feel free to mix it up with your own favorites as you see fit!
The final step brings the whole dish to life. She chops 5 green onions and add them to a mixing bowl. Next, she pours about a third of a cup of melted butter over the onions, and adds a pinch of flax and sesame seeds. Finally, she dumps the entire mixture over the bread and cheese and covers it with foil. She pops it in the 350 degree oven for 25 minutes, leaving it uncovered for the last 10 minutes until the cheese is nice and melted. The result? A mouthwateringly simple appetizer perfect to serve at parties! You can get as creative as you want with this, mixing and matching different cheeses and ingredients to get the flavor just right for you.
