Ordinary Recipe Makes 3-Layer Gourmet Cake
It Looks Like Ordinary Cake Batter - But Watch What Happens When She Starts Cutting
by Heather Kelly 3/16/2017
Most of us need a little help if we want to make a cake that looks amazing. And if we need a gourmet dessert for a party or event, our first instinct is to leave it to a professional. But, if you have ever used a basic cake recipe with flour, butter, eggs and sugar, that's all you need to know for this recipe. You won't see another like this one - it's almost as easy as an ordinary cake recipe, but when it comes hot out of the oven, you have a delicious, gourmet cake with three layers. AND it's made with lemon batter - it really doesn't get any better!
The recipe calls for 4 eggs, 1/2 cup butter, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 tsp vanilla extract, the zest of 2 lemons, 1 cup flour and 2 cups milk. Most of us have all these items in the cupboard already. The only difference between this recipe and an ordinary cake recipe is the way you mix the ingredients with a mixer. When the recipe makes a layer of fudge, a layer of custard, and a layer of sponge cake, you won't believe the difference the mixing technique makes.
The creator of this recipe calls it Magic Custard Cake. Can you see why? Watch the video below to see the process - but the end result might make you want to head straight to the kitchen. This video suggests cutting your square cake into bars, but others who have used this recipe suggest you can also use a circular pan and then cut your lemon cake into slices. Top with a dollop of whip cream and enjoy!
